Birla Carbon announces restructuring

Birla Carbon has announced a restructuring of its carbon black operations, operating through three divisions: Asia, Americas & EMEA, and Specialty Materials. The Asia division will be responsible for the rubber blacks business in that region. Amit Kumar, currently Chief Manufacturing Officer, Asia, will be named President of the unit. The Americas & EMEA division will handle the rubber blacks business in those regions. John Davidson, currently Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, will be its President. Finally, Specialty Materials will be responsible for the Specialty Carbon Blacks business worldwide, including Nanocyl MWCNTs. Shashank Awasthi, current Head of Sales, Asia and Business Head, China, will be named President of Specialty Materials. Finally, Zachary Combs, current Director of Technology for Energy Systems, will become Head, Global Technology, with responsibility for process and product development for Birla Carbon.

In conjunction with the organization changes, the Company will continue to assess its asset base aligned with market trends, leveraging major expansions in Asia, while demand has weakened in the Americas and Europe.
