Here’s a piece of news I got at the Carbon Black World conference, which is being held through Wednesday in Vancouver. Rhodia and Dow Corning today announced an agreement for the development of new silica/silane products for green tires. The agreement will be tasked to develop and commercialize new silica/silane combinations, primarily for tire applications where silica/silane is used to reduce rolling resistance and improve fuel economy. Rhodia is the world’s leading producer of highly dispersible silica for the tire industry, while Dow Corning is a leading producer of silanes.

Here is the press release (PDF).
